Cold Case Police Interview Excerpt

Location: HPPD Headquarters
Interviewer: Det. David, ID 174
Interview date: 7-16-16
Time: 11:45 pm
Interviewee: Carol Wallace, age 34
Relationship to victim: Sister

[BEGIN TRANSCRIPTION]

CAROL: My sister wasn’t feeling well during rehearsal earlier in the evening, so I assumed she was home. But if you’re looking for suspects, I can save you some time. It was probably Travis.

DET. DAVID: Travis… your son? You’re saying your son set the fire and killed his aunt?

CAROL: I’m saying he was in the back smoking. The theatre is old… a box of old programs in a dry cardboard box is all it would take.

DET. DAVID: You realize you’re implicating your son in your sister’s murder?
