Cold Case 354A

Case Status: Reopened

The Death of Tessa Bromin

Evidence Document 01: 911 Call Transcript

911: What’s your emergency?
Carol: The Rosa Theatre is on fire.

911: Where is the fire located?
Carol: In the back of the theatre, near the dressing rooms.

911: Are you able to get out safely?
Carol: Yes… I’m headed to the lobby now. We’ll go out the front door.

911: Is there anyone left in the building?
Carol: …No.

Evidence Document 02:

From Capt. Chuck Winters, in the official Fire Marshal Report

After careful investigation, it is determined the fire started just inside the back door of the theatre. The point of ignition was a cardboard box of programs with traces of alcohol present.

The fire spread quickly through the backstage area and into the theatre.

I cannot confidently state whether this was arson or an accident.

Police Interview 01: Excerpt

Carol Wallace, Victim’s Sister & Theatre Owners

CAROL: My sister wasn’t feeling well during rehearsal earlier in the evening, so I assumed she was home. But if you’re looking for suspects, I can save you some time. It was probably Travis.

DET. DAVID: Travis… your son? You’re saying your son set the fire and killed his aunt?

CAROL: I’m saying he was in the back smoking. The theatre is old… a box of old programs in a dry cardboard box is all it would take.

DET. DAVID: You realize you’re implicating your son in your sister’s murder?

Cold Case 354A & Fresh Murder Case 1037 are Connected.

Tessa Bromin’s cold case was eventually closed unresolved.

But a second death—Tessa’s sister Carol Wallace—four years later changed the game and reopened everything.

Notes from Det. Sara Jacobs

Carol Wallace’s death triggers the reopening of her sister’s cold case, 354A, from four years ago. It was left unsolved and it was determined inconclusive whether it was an accident or homicide.

But after reviewing Tessa Bromin’s autopsy report from 2016, I’m convinced the Rosa Theatre fire was intentionally set and that Tessa’s death was no accident.

The connection between these cases is suspicious. And my growing list of suspects is troubling…
